Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics (KNURE) is a higher education institution of the highest level of accreditation in Ukraine. It is one of the oldest Universities of Technologies in Ukraine with over 12000 students and 30 scientific centers.
It has strong research and education capabilities in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, ICT and computer technologies.
KNURE hosts International Academy of Applied Radio&Electronics and the Eastern-Ukrainian branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), pioneered the development of distance learning in Ukraine. It has a high expertise in introduction of innovative technologies into education and business.
The University ranks first among technical universities of Ukraine by the results of the rankings made by the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine (according to “Education of Ukraine” №26 (1295) of 25 June 2012 and the website http://euroosvita.net ).
In the Compass-2012 rankings KhNURE is the 8th in general ranking, the 9th under “Technical Specialities” category and 4th under “IT Specialities” category.
The Compass-2012 rankings for Eastern Ukraine: general university ranking – 7th rank, 6th rank under “Technical Specialities” category and 2nd rank under “IT Specialities” category.
In the top 200 the university has retained its place since last year and ranks 15th among higher educational institutions of Ukraine and 2nd in Eastern Ukraine.
The University runs 16th among Ukrainian higher educational institutions in the rankings of scientometrical database Scopus.

V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with its over 200-year history is a leading Research and Educational Institution in Ukraine.
It was founded in November 1804, on the initiative of the prominent educator V.N. Karazin and in accordance with the charter of Tsar Alexander I.
The history of Kharkiv National University is part and parcel of the intellectual, cultural and spiritual history of Ukraine.
The names of many world famous researchers, scholars and educators are associated with Kharkiv University, among them are P. Hulak-Artemovskyi, O. Lyapunov, M. Kostomarov, M. Barabashov, M. Beketov, D. Bahaliy, A. Krasnov, M. Ostrohradskyi, V. Steklov, O. Potebnya, O. Pohorelov and many others. Kharkiv University is the only university in Ukraine that has trained and employed three Nobel Prize laureates: the biologist I. Mechnikov, the economist S. Kuznets, and the physicist L. Landau.
Since its foundation, the University has graduated over 130,000 students.
The names of the University graduates are commemorated in geographical names, names of space objects, plants and minerals, laws and formulae.
Almost 60 University graduates have become academicians and corresponding members of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences (UNAS).
Today the University has 20 Schools and 125 Departments which provide training for specialists in 61 majors.
The University also comprises 3 Research Institutes (of Astronomy, Biology and Chemistry), Central Scientific Library with over 3.5 million books in its stocks, Botanical Garden, University History Museum, Museum of Natural History, Museum of Archeology and Ethnography.
All University Schools, Center for International Students Training and Pre-Enrolment Training Center provide teaching for 15 000 students and 500 postgraduate students.
The University employs for teaching and research 308 Doctors of Sciences and Doctors of Letters, full professors and about 800 PhDs, associate professors including 15 academicians and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Sectoral Academies.
In the “Top-200 Ukraine” rating conducted by the UNESCO Chair for 2009 Kharkiv University ranks third among all Ukrainian Higher Educational Institutions.
According to Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database, the University holds the third position among Ukrainian Research and Educational Institutions by the number of articles published in the leading international scientific publications.
The University is distinguished by its 24 internationally-recognized scientific schools and it has the biggest potential and base for training high skilled personnel in the Left-Bank Ukraine.
The University has over 20 Expert and Senior Expert Examining Boards where 10-15 Doctorate and about 60 PhD theses are defended annually.
Every year University scientists publish over 60 textbooks and 300 manuals, about 60 monographs and over 80 issues of the University Bulletin and other journals, about 2500 scientific articles and abstracts, including over 400 articles in leading international scientific journals.
Annually the University holds more than 150 international and national conferences on research and teaching methods.
The University also promotes versatile, close and fruitful cooperation with Research Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences and Sectoral Academies of Ukraine, continues to establish and strengthen contacts with sectoral research institutes and enterprises.
Within Research Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine there were created 17 branches of the University departments.
In cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine the University opened The School of Physics and Energy.
The University boasts its wide international recognition as one of the initiators of signing the Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna, 1998), a co-founder of the Eurasian Universities Association, an active participant of International Association of Universities and European University Association, a training center for about 1500 international students, postgraduate and doctorate students for 50 countries of the world, and a partner in research and educational cooperation with more than 100 universities and other organizations all over the world.

The National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute
The National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute” is a high school of IV degree accreditation and is subordinated to the Ministry of education and science. It is considered as one of the best five universities of Ukraine. It was founded in 1885 and now trains specialists in 89 specialties at 23 faculties. The University is the only one in Ukraine that trains engineers in such lines as turbine-building, electric insulation, boiler-&-reactor engineering, cable engineering, technology of fats and fat substitutes. The University is constantly developing: over the last 5 years 23 new specialties had been created. The training staff of the NTU “KhPI” amounts to 1300 persons. Among them are 165 doctors of sciences, professors, 760 docents and candidates of sciences.
The University constantly expands its international relations with other leading educational establishments of the USA, Germany, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Romania, Poland, China and Vietnam. Currently more than 500 foreign students study at the university.
Kharkiv National Medical University
Kharkiv National Medical University is one of the oldest high medical schools of Ukraine. The history of the university starts in 1805 when was founded Kharkiv Imperial University.
In 1988 Kharkiv National Medical University became a member of International Association of Universities. In 2002 Kharkiv National Medical University was recognized as the best among institutes of higher education of Ukraine.
Today at university are working 16 honored workers of science and engineering of Ukraine, 2 honored workers of high school of Ukraine, 4 honored doctors of Ukraine and 32 academics.
The university has the following departments: therapy, surgery, stomatology (dentistry), orthopedics and traumatology, urology, oncology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology and other medical specialties. During its existence Kharkiv National Medical University had trained around 56000 doctors, among them 5000 are foreign ones. The university trains doctors from 57 countries of the world since 1951 in Russian and since 1996 in English.
